Gabriele Plate

Dipl. Ing. Gabriele Plate, born June 1950 in Germany, Landcape Architect, Studium University of Essen. Between 1979 and 1989 she studied in Peru, India and Brasil.  Since then she worked as a sculptor and lives in Spain.

The solid high-fired sculptures are from stoneware (clay and chamotte) without glaze. Welded iron elements complete the symbolic character of the works.  At first glance oversized feet, hands and individual muscle groups convey rough strength. This impression disappears at a closer look as frailness and vulnerability is hidden behind the massiveness.
