I do not remember a time in my life when I didn’t know that I create my own reality. What I think, feel and experience is always a match.Anais Nin said, “We do not see the world as it is, we see it as we are”. I embrace my observations and use them as a vehicle to self-discovery. Personal insights are the core narrative of my work. As I observe the world around me and pay attention to my visceral reactions to my surroundings I can accurately evaluate how I am doing. The results of this honest assessment of my psyche form the clay and tell the story of my life through my art. Clay is of the earth and having my hands in the clay is cathartic. I am often deliberately ambiguous towelcome the viewer to contribute to the story with their personal perspective. I employ the use of color to bring the clay back to life from the harsh initial firing of the kiln that often reflects a monochromatic and dull surface.I continue to add color until the piece comes to life.
