Robert Bradford
Reclaiming children’s toys to craft his sculptures, Bradford fosters a thought-provoking commentary on consumerism and commodification, as well as showcasing the transience of modern fads and fashions. Qualified in both painting and film, he also lectures in Fine art at San Diego State University. His work is collected in sixteen countries, and has had interest from several prestigious institutions, including the children’s department of Selfridges Department Store. Bradford has permanent collections at the Eden Project, Hamley’s London and Ripley’s Museum London, as well as solo shows at Envie D’Art Paris and Lola Nikolaou in Greece. Global corporations, such as Coca Cola, have commissioned his work. In his latest objective, entitled ‘Phoenix Rising’, he crafts huge wooden forms along the beaches of the UK’s southern coast, which he then deconstructs through pyrotechnics. This acclaimed development of his work is funded by the Arts Council for England.
